Highscreen brand develops a line of Max smartphones with increased battery capacity. The fresh Max 3 became the ideological successor of the Power Five Max 2 model. In addition to the capacious battery, the device has something to offer both in terms of design and ergonomics, as well as iron. What the vendor is going to conquer this time, read the review.
At first glance, Highscreen Max 3 looks like an ordinary smartphone, but the vendor still prepared a small surprise: the back cover of the device is made of plastic with a pleasant rough texture. It looks like a soft touch, but with a slightly stiffer corrugation – it feels unusual and guaranteed to prevent slipping in the hands and on virtually any surface. The lid is removable, if desired, it can be replaced with a more strict black one. Therefore, it will be possible to get to the battery without problems, but since it is glued in, changing it outside specialized centers is not recommended.
The resolution of a large, almost 6-inch IPS display is Full HD +. The quality of the matrix is at a high level: the picture is clear and juicy even when viewed from large angles. However, the margin of brightness is modest, it is not easy to see the image in the sun. The rest of the screen is not satisfactory: due to the high resolution on it it is comfortable to read the text and watch the video.
Long lives without an outlet
Following the trends for capacious batteries, the vendor did not stint on milliamp hours: he charged 5000 mAh battery in Highscreen Max 3 and added a couple of pleasant surprises to it. There really is no need to worry about the memory being constantly at hand: if the battery is full in the morning, by the evening of an active working day, a third of the charge will definitely remain, or even more. When working with demanding applications, energy efficiency is at a standard high level: 10 hours of video, confident 5 hours of play.
For charging and synchronization with a computer there is a convenient USB Type-C connector. The possibility of quick charging is provided: from the native adapter, the device is filled from zero to one third in half an hour, a little more than half – in an hour, and in two and a half hours – completely. The speed may seem low, but it’s worth remembering the battery capacity of 5000 “max”, as everything falls into place. An added bonus is Qi’s built-in wireless charging.
Work and play
Inside the Highscreen Max 3, the eight-core MediaTek Helio P35 operates at a frequency of up to 2.5 GHz. Together with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of permanent memory, this provides the budget gadget with not only smooth operation of the interface, but also high performance when launching demanding applications and games. At default settings, World of Tanks: Blitz runs at stable 55-60 fps.
The rest of the iron is also in order. There is an NFC chip that provides contactless payment and fast synchronization with various devices or tags. The Wi-Fi 802.11n (Wi-Fi 4) module works in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands and draws out the speed of 100-150 Mbps.
The card tray provides for the possibility of simultaneously installing two nano-SIM and one microSD, that is, there is no need to sacrifice communication for the sake of additional gigabytes of memory.
The speaker located at the bottom end produces sound worthy for the budget segment. The vendor decided to abandon the headphone jack (although there is a place for it), but there are no problems with connecting speakers via Bluetooth. In good wireless headphones, sound quality (aptX is not supported), volume with a margin, the signal is stable – the connection is not interrupted.
There are two options for biometric protection – face recognition using the front camera and a fingerprint scanner located on the back side. It registers a new fingerprint in a few seconds and works quickly and accurately with regular use. When removing the back cover, the scanner, of course, remains in place.
No trash software
The manufacturer traditionally did not overfill the smartphone’s memory with applications unnecessary for most and installed clean Android 9. Accordingly, the user has access to the advantages of this system, including a dark theme and control over the work in the “Digital Well-being” section.
The interface is responsive and smooth, there are no lags and friezes, including when working in split-screen mode.

Even if you forget to put the device in charge at night, nothing terrible will happen – it will wake up in the morning and hold out before lunch. Then you can charge it from the mains or put it on an induction charger. In addition, the device boasts fast Wi-Fi in two bands, a high-quality display and a concise interface.
