Xiaomi continues the tradition by releasing more affordable flagship versions. The new Mi9 Lite has everything that users love this brand: a powerful battery, a Snapdragon processor, a triple camera and an adequate price. Not even forgot about NFC. Is the phone really that good? Now we will tell.

Xiaomi Mi9 Lite

Smartphone with a twist

The developers did not experiment with the appearance of the device – the case design is almost no different from the usual Mi9. This has undoubtedly benefited the low-cost model. The Mi9 Lite has a strong metal base, and the back panel is closed by a glass that smoothly rounds to the side ends. The most stringent version came to us for review – black. There are also blue and white colors. By the way, in the fresh line of Xiaomi devices it is easy to get confused. Mi9 Lite is a lot like the Mi 9T and Mi9 SE. What are their differences, you can find out on Instagram 4PDARU .

Instead of the usual indicator, the logo on the back cover is used. Directly in the brand name are built-in LEDs that turn blue when notifications arrive. This is convenient only in one case – when the smartphone is turned upside down. In other situations, it is easier to use the Always-on-Display mode, which displays information about missed events on the screen.

Display with scanner

The screen is installed the same as in Mi9. Samsung’s Super AMOLED is 6.39 inches. Full HD + picture is contrasting, the colors are juicy, there is support for HDR. The brightness margin reaches 600 nits – enough to work in direct sunlight. A traditional drawback of such panels is the incorrect display of white. In Mi9 Lite, it’s a dirty gray hue.

The display is covered with tempered glass Gorilla Glass 5 with a good oleophobic coating. There is a DC Dimming function that reduces the load on vision due to flickering backlight. The fingerprint scanner, built into the screen, is gradually becoming a familiar solution in the affordable price segment. Mi9 Lite received a good fingerprint sensor, which almost does not differ in accuracy and speed from physical sensors. Unlocking is fast and accurate. If you need to turn on the phone with wet fingers, it is convenient to use face recognition using the front camera.

Xiaomi Mi9 Lite

Balanced iron

Xiaomi Mi9 Lite is based on the Snapdragon 710. This is a mid-range chipset made using the 10-nm process technology. Its performance is sufficient for most demanding applications and games. The advantages of the processor include good energy efficiency and low heating under heavy load. 6 GB of RAM standard LPDDR4X help him in his work, and a 64 or 128 GB drive is responsible for the internal storage. A hybrid microSD slot is provided.

As for performance, there is almost no difference between the flagships and the middle peasants now. Mi9 Lite quickly opens the program and without hesitation switches between them. The OS works without hangs. Everything is fine with games too – the Adreno 616 has enough power to launch World of Tanks: Blitz at the highest settings with comfortable 50-60 fps. It’s possible to hack at maximum speeds into more “heavy” shooters, such as PUBG or COD.

The developers have not forgotten about NFC. It is easy to pay by phone in stores and replenish transport cards.

Xiaomi Mi9 Lite

Triple camera

The smartphone received a triple main camera. The main “eye” has a resolution of 48 megapixels. There is also an ultra-wide-angle module with an 8 megapixel sensor and an auxiliary 2 megapixel lens that measures the depth of field in portrait shots. Mi9 Lite is equipped with Super Pixel technology, which groups pixels into four, thereby capturing more light.

By default, frames are obtained with a resolution of 12 megapixels. To switch to 48 megapixels, you need to go to the settings or to the “Pro” mode each time, but HDR and AI-enhancements to the photo do not work in it.

Xiaomi Mi9 Lite

In the daytime, the camera shoots tolerably. In cloudy weather, software algorithms help out, making the image a little brighter and more expressive. However, the colors are still not enough, I want to tweak the exposure and saturation in a graphical editor. The main module is sensitive to light: the smaller it is, the stronger the picture quality decreases. At night, the amount of noise and blur increases, it is difficult to get a decent photo.

Using an ultra-wide-angle module, more objects fit in the frame. However, when switching to wide, the detail drops significantly, this is noticeable even on a smartphone. An additional lens does a good job of blurring the background. It turns out uniform and almost without errors.

Good detail, but I want to add a little brightness
HDR helps a bit in improving the picture. True, there is a strange glitch in the software – every time you turn on the camera, the HDR settings fly off. They have to be turned on each time manually
You can consider small objects, they are not smeared
The same building is wide. Decent quality – there is practically no blurring of the picture in the corners
AI algorithms colored the picture a little unnaturally. But the frame turned out more colorful
The trees in the background are a little oiled, otherwise everything is fine
Buildings with good lighting work well at night
Not enough detail, the edges of the building blurred
Difficult conditions, but the automation coped with dignity
Selfie on a 32-megapixel front camera. Great quality

The smartphone shoots video in 4K resolution without software stabilization, and when it is turned on, it is in 1080p at 30 fps. The quality of shooting is traditionally low: the effect of “jelly” is noticeable on small details, the picture is slightly twitching.

Using the energy-efficient Snapdragon processor and AMOLED screen has a positive impact on autonomy. 4030 mAh batteries are enough for a day of active operation. You can chat a lot on social networks, watch videos, take pictures, and by the end of the day there will still be another 30 percent of the battery.

In the mode of cyclic scrolling of a video in 1080p at medium brightness, Mi9 Lite lasted a little more than 20 hours. Destroy enemy tanks in World of Tanks: Blitz will take about six hours.

Xiaomi Mi9 Lite

The phone supports fast charging. A complete 18W charger fills the device from 0 to 100% in an hour and a half.

Xiaomi Mi9 Lite

Xiaomi continues to hold the bar for the balance of price and performance in its smartphones. A striking example is Mi9 Lite. At a modest cost, the new product has many advantages: decent performance, excellent autonomy, NFC, a large amount of memory with the possibility of its expansion. For the sake of lower prices, the manufacturer sacrificed only the quality of the auxiliary camera modules.
