The flagship smartphone Samsung S20 Ultra failed the test for strength from CNET. Test recording of the device is available on YouTube channel edition.
Journalists simulated three scenarios: a smartphone falling out of his pocket, falling from the height of his chest and human growth. The back panel of the flagship, consisting of glass and covered with a protective layer of Gorilla Glass 6, covered with cracks in the first fall. The moment the device fell from the height of the chest, the cracks appeared at the end of the device from the front side.
As a result of falling from the height of human growth Galaxy S20 Ultra began to collapse. The publication drew attention to numerous scratches on the metal frame of the device and splintering fragments of the back panel.
Journalists concluded that despite severe damage, the camera module protruding above the body was not damaged. CNET also recorded that the unit continued to operate. In conclusion, the publication advised the owners of the flagship Samsung gently handle the device and, if possible, buy a case.
According to analysts, the flagship line Galaxy S20 failed to sell in South Korea. On the first day, local retailers sold 70,800 units of devices, while last year’s flagship Galaxy S10 Plus dispersed circulation of 140 thousand devices, and Galaxy Note 10 – 220 thousand copies. Experts linked the fall in sales with the COVID-19 outbreak of pneumonia and the high cost of smartphones.
The line of Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones was presented on February 11. The top device of the series – Galaxy S20 Ultra – received a 6.9-inch display, 12 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of internal memory, a camera with a main sensor resolution of 108 megapixels and a hundred-factor zoom. The device is valued at 100 thousand rubles in Russian retail.
