Yesterday, VIVO and Samsung held a media communication meeting in Beijing to demonstrate the joint research and development results of the Exynos 980 , a dual-mode 5G artificial intelligence-supported processor chip. This collaboration also triggered the industry’s intense interest in VIVO’s ongoing efforts in the 5G field.
Today, VIVO has published a series of posters in its official Weibo account, displaying four technical features of the Exynos 980. The industry’s first Cortex-A77 chip will also be the first 5G processor to support dual-mode 5G networks.
The Exynos 980 chip, the industry’s first dual-mode 5G supported product, supports both NSA and SA 5G networks. This dual mode brings consumers a more comprehensive 5G experience. The Exynos 980 provides ultra-high-speed data communication , with download speeds of up to 2.55 Gbps and download speeds of up to 3.55 Gbps.
It should be noted that the Exynos 980 also integrates the 5G baseband into the processor . Compared to an external 5G baseband solution, this helps to save a lot of space. It also provides faster and more efficient energy performance .
The Exynos 980 chip uses ARM’s next-generation Cortex-A77 processor architecture. This new processor delivers 20% better frequency performance than the Cortex-A76 architecture. This ensures that large amounts of data can be processed quickly. The chip features a high-performance NPU and DSP unit for flagship computing speeds, as well as a high-performance ISP that can process images shot up to 108 MP . Thanks to the artificial intelligence super pixel segmentation technology, it can accurately cut the object and background.
