AMD has made a significant breakthrough in the processor market in recent years and started to squeeze Intel and introduced its new processor. The 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper supports up to 32 cores.
AMD CEO Lisa Su , who introduced the processor, said that the new processor is faster in all kinds of workloads and is the fastest desktop processor in the market . The new Threadripper series comes in 2 models.
The first of the two models in the new series was the Threadripper 3960X , which has 24 cores and 48 threads. The basic speed of the processor is 3.8GHz, the boost can reach 4.5 GHz with boost. The processor has a total memory of 140 MB and has 88 PCIe lines. The processor’s TDP (roughly available power capacity) is 280 W and supports four-channel memory.
The higher-end Threadripper 3970X has 32 cores and 64 threads. The speed of this slower processor is 3.7GHz, but this processor can boost up to 4.5 GHz. The memory is 144 MB and the other features are the same as the little brother.
Both processors were built on a 7nm base with Zen2 architecture. Processors are said to be 15% more effective per core, while AMD has challenged performance.
The company’s shared tables revealed that Intel’s Core X processors, which Intel introduced last year, are far behind these models. Since Intel has already announced a new series of processors, this data is not significant, but it is important to show the distance achieved in a year.
The new processors will be available on November 25th . The price of Threadripper 3960X will be $ 1399 (approximately 8,030 TL) and the price of Threadripper 3970X will be $ 1999 (about 11,480 TL). Considering the new serial processors Intel will launch at prices below $ 1000 , we will be wondering if we will see a performance that will justify the price difference.
