Intel Restores Xeon E-2274G Processors Due to Cooling System Problem

The problems experienced by the technology companies on the market can cause headaches and this process can go back to the collection of the products. The latest example was the Intel’s entry-level processor Xeon E-2274G. Intel has decided to roll back the Xeon E-2274G processors due to the problem with the CPU-cooled versions.

After the technical problems experienced in the cars, we have witnessed many times that giant car manufacturers have collected their vehicles. A similar situation has happened to technology giants before. For example Samsung ; Galaxy Note7’yi due to battery problems, due to problems on the screen had to collect the Galaxy Fold back. Among the companies that have reclaimed their products in the market, Intel also made a name for itself because of the cooling system problem in the Xeon E-2274G processor.

In a recent announcement from Intel, buyers of the entry-level Xeon E-2274G processor and retailers were asked to return the product to Intel . The problem with the cooler version of the processor caused the Xeon E-2274G to heat up more than expected. Stores selling the Xeon E-2274G processor have updated the stock status to “Discontinued” .

Intel xeon

Based on the 14 nm ++ manufacturing process and the Coffee Lake microarchitecture, the 4-core Xeon E-2274G had 88 W TDP (Thermal Design Power). Intel released two different versions of the Xeon E-2274G; In the first version, it offered only the chip, and in the second version it offered the cooling system with the chip. The problem with the liquid solution in the cooling system of the second version seems to have caused the expected cooling performance not to be achieved. Intel offers a non-cooler version to the senders of the product, allowing people to choose the cooler they want.

The E973708-003 fan cooler that came with the Xeon E-2274G was supplied from another technology giant, Foxconn, but used with processors with a TDP of less than 65 W TDP, the heatsink did not provide enough performance for the Xeon E-2274G. Introducing the Xeon E-2274G, which has a 88 W TDP and designed for use on workstations with such a low TDP cooler, may be one of Intel’s biggest errors in the recent period.

As with every recovery process, the company will suffer financial damage . Together we will see if Intel will make a different statement about the issue in the coming period.
