Smartphones with 120 Hz display aren’t technically new, Razer introduced the first 120 Hz display phones a few years ago. However, this feature has not received much demand from other smartphone manufacturers. The OnePlus 7 series came with 90 Hz OLED panels, while the Google Pixel 4 came with a similar display. Nevertheless, there has never been a company using a 120 Hz display panel other than Razor and Asus.
Ironically, Samsung is also the manufacturer of a very serious portion of the high-refresh rate screens used in other smartphones. Among the phones that the company released in 2019, there is no product with this technology. Looks like this will change next year .
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in the Android 10 beta update hidden settings, 60 Hz to 120 Hz turned out to be an option. Of course, using this option on current hardware does not have any effect. This feature is said to be a sign that we will see a 120 Hz refresh rate on future phones.
When you enter the settings menu according to the images shared by Ice Universe , you see that the device has three different settings. According to these settings, the phone works either at 60 Hz whenever possible, at 120 Hz whenever possible, or by switching between the two. Another Twitter user shared the settings in English. The 120 Hz option is clearly visible on this screen.
Samsung’s first 120 Hz screen refresh rate is not known which phone. Although we have seen that the South Korean company first tried out the new technologies on more mid-range phones, it is very likely that we will see these display panels for the first time with the Samsung Galaxy S11 .
