We won't wait much for Snapdragon 865! Here is history
The Snapdragon 865 processor, which will be powered by flagship phones to be introduced next year, was expected to be introduced in December. A new report from China marks a new month for Snapdragon 865 launch date.
Qualcomm, which wants to stay behind the Kirin 990 processor, which Huawei recently launched, has accelerated the introduction of the new processor. Huawei’s new processor was introduced with the Mate 30 series.
Snapdragon 865’s main competitors are Apple A13 Bionic and Kirin 990 . Another detail in the report is that the first prototypes using the new processor will be produced by Samsung, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi. The release date for the new processor is now being pointed out in November.
The first phone powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor is expected to be the Galaxy S11 introduced in February 2020 . Although the first phone to use the Snapdragon 855 was the Mi 9, it was the first phone to be released worldwide.
Qualcomm’s new processor will be manufactured by Samsung with a 7 nm EUV fabrication process . In this way, more transistors can be placed in the processor compared to the processors produced by the 7 nm fabrication process.
More transistors mean lower energy consumption and higher performance . In this context, compared to Snapdragon 855, 20 – 30 percent performance increase and 30 – 50 percent energy efficiency is expected.
If everything goes well, in 2021 Qualcomm will return to TSMC. The reason for this is that Snapdragon 875 will be produced with 5 nm fabrication process .
